Private Trevor Henry

The only evidence of this man's military service discovered to date is contained in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland's Roll of Honour, which states that he served as a trooper (private) in the North Irish Horse, lived in Lissummon, County Armagh, and worshipped in the Drumbanagher, First, and Jerrettspass Congregation of the Presbyterian Church.

Trevor Henry was born on 5 June 1899 at Lissummon, Poyntzpass, County Armagh, the fifth of seven children of farmer Nathaniel Henry and his wife Margaret (née Kelly). His mother died of influenza when he was just three years old. By the time of the 1911 Census he was living at Lissummon with his father, step-mother, five surviving siblings including his twin sister Maggie, and his half-sister.

The date of Henry's enlistment in the North Irish Horse is not known at present. Nor is his regimental number. Given his age, however, he probably joined in 1917 or 1918. He would have trained at the regiment's Antrim reserve camp before being demobilised in 1919.
